I'm sorry, I am totally against animal testing. Many animals are exposed to chemicals dropped into thier eyes. Please check the company you buy makeup/shampoo from. Many use rabbits to test commercial makeup to see if it causes blindness.
Restrangled, its not only cosmetics which get tested on animals.
If you drive a car, use paint, buy any clothes from the high street, eat any processed food, drink any tap or bottled water, drink alcohol, use any medications, keep your pets up-to-date with vaccination boosters, flea treatments etc, use household cleaners, to name but a few things, they and/or the chemicals used in processing will have been tested on animals.
As for pregnant mares too, why single them out? Dairy cows are kept pregnant so that they keep producing milk, their calves are removed from them within days - the males are often killed straight away, a useless by-product.
Male chickens are gassed - useless by-product whether born free or not.
And at the end of the day a slaughterhouse operation does not differentiate between free range or factory farmed.
Where do we draw the line? If people want to avoid all animal testing, the only option is to live under the stars and survive off the land.

If there are rescue centres which take abandoned horses, they should be approached. If not, then sadly their best option is probably slaughter - if they're starving, it would suggest that they aren't able to fend for themselves so letting them return to the wild would be unfair on them.

My Wife Is Coming Home!!

More on the Public April Fool's Issue (WT 4-1-09)
by studier innot only did the public watchtower issue attempt to screw with educate those who believe in being born again, but their preach to teach your children article (pg 24-25) also reinforced the idea of keeping away from those who aren't jws worship false gods.
reminds me of their recent meanderings in their april study edition, only this one has been dubbed down simplified to brain wash teach the children.
a small box on the bottom of pg 29 relates the catholic observence of lent to pagan practices.. i'm not any good at a blondie type rehash, but this issue makes me wish i was.. for those who are interested in the parts of this issue that were not already posted and do not have a copy of their own, i scanned the issue in its entirety and put in a searchable pdf format.. http://www.sendspace.com/file/0amdvy.

I received my copy last weekend. There were already a few alarm bells ringing at my first quick read but I need to read more closely.
It is the most 'doctrinal' issue of the new public edition I've seen yet - more like the old-style ones where you got the studies. All the WT-speak is back eg 'bad association', they just try to put it into a Biblical context (and fail miserably!) rather than org context....
... which would make it appear pretty harmless to the unsuspecting reader.
